ENGINEERING COUNCIL OF SOUTH AFRICA

ECSA Board

ECSA is a statutory body that regulates the engineering profession in South Africa. It is governed by a board which is appointed by the Minister of Public Works.

Michelle was a member of the ECSA Board for two consecutive terms, 2001 to 2005 and 2005 to 2009. 

During her second term Michelle was a member of the Board's Executive Committee responsible for Communication, Information and Marketing.

Profession Advisory Committee

Each Discipline of engineering is peer reviewed and evaluated by a PAC which recommends them for professional status if they meet the requirements of a professional engineer. Michelle has been a member of the PAC Industrial from 1998 to 2016.

University Accreditation

South Africa is a signatory to the Washington Accord.  County signatories have their academic instituteiton accredited to ensure they meet the requirements set out by the internation standards of the Washington Accord. 

Michelle was a member of the accreditation team to Wits University in 2007, and led the the industrial team at the visit to Pretoria University in 2012.
